The Last One to Finish the Race

They have a really expensive car,
They have a grande house,
And they have several Children.

They are also experienced,
At work,
At play,
And with the socialgraces,
And in the social places.

They know more about health,
They know more about handling rejections,
They know about dealing with their Anger.
And they certainly know how to deal with their Sorrow.

They love the material world,
They thrive on competition,
Lust is their game,
And Shallow is their Word.

They think little about the bigger pictures,
They think too much about menial things.

They think about envy for the other,
For the other's wealth,
For the other's life.
For the fame of the few in the world that have all the wealth.

They certainly have much more.
Not because they have those things.
But because they have those families and friends.
Family and friends abundant.

Where does this leave you?
Can you even come close?

Is your reward in this Life or in the Other?
Are you meant to be successful here?

Does that mean we give up?
No, that certainly does not.

It means we keep trying, and working,
life is not about what these voices say.

It is about the voices from within that speak of Good,
That speak of self-improvement,
That speak of self-love and appreciation,
And the voices that speak of strength and courage.

Do not listen to the voices of the dark.
Be weary of those voices that seek to fail you.

Stay strong to the voices from within us,
And welcome the strength that comes from above us.
